Classic Namco arcade game Märchen Maze gets modern re-release

Märchen Maze

Hamster Corporation has announced the latest addition to their Arcade Archives series with Märchen Maze, the classic Namco action game inspired by Alice in Wonderland.

Märchen Maze is now available worldwide for Nintendo Switch (via the eShop) and PlayStation 4 (via the PlayStation Store).

Originally developed by N.H. System and released by Namco back in 1988 for Japanese arcades. It later got a PC-Engine release in 1990 and a Sharp X68000 port in 1991. The game was digitally released for the Wii Virtual Console for Japan in 2009 – this is the first western release for the game.

Here’s a rundown on the new release, plus a trailer:

“MARCHEN MAZE” is an action game released by NAMCO (Bandai Namco Entertainment) in 1988. Control the main character, Alice, and take back the Mirror Country, which has been conquered by the evil queen. Use soap bubble attacks and jumps to advance through the area and defeat the boss waiting at the end.

Hamster Corporation’s Arcade Archives series of re-releases faithfully reproduces arcade classics for modern platforms.
