Main Story in Monster Hunter World Takes Roughly 40-50 Hours to Initially Clear

We’ve learned how long it will take for players to initially clear the main story in Monster Hunter: World.

The news comes from an interview with game director Yuya Tokuda and Mein-MMO.de, who confirmed it will take roughly 40 to 50 hours to initially clear the game’s main story.

“I guess it will take about 40 to 50 hours, depending on the type of player, to complete the story,” Tokuda said. “But it would not be a Monster Hunter game if it had no content that you could enjoy in the end-game period. Players can continue to forge and upgrade their favorite weapons and armor after the story is over. ”

Executive director and art director Kaname Fujioka also noted that they’ll “post weekly event quests and free updates that players can enjoy after the launch.”

If previous games in the Monster Hunter franchise are of any indication, players will easily get hundreds if not thousands of hours of play out of the title.

Monster Hunter World is launching on January 26th across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC version is coming sometime later. An open beta is planned for PlayStation 4 users from December 22nd to the 26th – you can read more about that here.
