Hot on the heels of New Line Cinema teasing new Lord of the Rings film adaptations – why not enjoy the best adaptation for Return of the King we’ll ever get in its most complete form?
Regal and Cinemark theaters have announced The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is returning to theaters for a special 20th anniversary celebration.
Peter Jackson’s epic originally premiered in theaters back on December 17th, 2003 — the 20th anniversary screening is for one day only and will skip the actual holiday date to avoid a crowded theater schedule.
Fans will be able to watch the massive four hour and twenty minute Extended Edition (the only way to watch the films) on April 13th in both Regal and Cinemark theaters, nationwide.
The new celebratory screening will also include an introduction with Frodo Baggins actor Elijah Wood, who discusses the impact of the LOTR trilogy alongside footage from LA Comic Con on the brand new LOTR Roleplaying tabletop game.
Make sure you get your tickets – a reminder this is a screening for one day only, your local theaters are likely to start selling most if not all tickets for this celebration of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic film adaptation.
