We’ve learned the recent Lost Ark western release is plagued with bots and gold spamming, as Amazon noted the spam has gotten quite bad.
“We are also aware of the increase in gold sellers spamming chat and are running frequent scripts to ban them,” the publisher said in a new update. “We are actively working on improving our in-game moderation tools. We will continue to monitor, remove these gold spammers, and take actions as needed.”
They confirmed a permanent fix is coming for spammers in the game’s online chat, but for now there are immediate filters you can use.
“While we work on a more permanent fix for spammers in chat, you can create a new chat tab by clicking the “+” icon in the chat box and selecting the chat types you want to include or exclude. This will allow you to hide area chat,” the publisher said.
User reports are coming in that bots are not just spamming in chat, however, as they’re doing what bots and farmers do in online RPGs – hog good enemy spawn zones, grind starter zones, and even doing chain quests.
As with any online RPG, gold spam and spam in general tends to make in-game chats useless, confusticating the entire process of getting a party together to do dungeons.
In related news, we did a report on the rampant censorship and “localization” found only in the western version of Lost Ark – namely female characters being covered up, lots of NPCs given much darker skin tones for seemingly no reason, and more. Read up on that in our other report here.
Lost Ark was released in the west on February 11th, 2022 on Windows PC (via Steam). The free-to-play online action RPG was originally launched in Asia back in 2018. In case you missed it, you can find our review on the game here.
