Design director David Vonderhaar has announced his departure from Treyarch, leaving the company after nearly two decades.

He had worked with the company since 2004 and has worked on eight Call of Duty titles. Most famously he’s known for his work on the Black Ops sub-series for its multiplayer and campaigns, and various modes.

“To my co-workers at Treyarch, I am immensely grateful for the time we invested working to improve our craft, never sitting on successes, and always wondering how to improve what we design and how we produce it.” Vonderhaar said in a LinkedIn post.

Along with this departure announcement, Vonderhaar also revealed he was working on a new project for a new company. However it is currently an “undisclosed project” that he can’t say much more on at this current time.

Treyarch’s most recent title in the franchise is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, which launched back in 2020. They’re also doing work on the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III for its zombies game mode.
