A new rumor is pointing to a live-action Pokemon series now in early development at Netflix.
The new rumor (via Variety) suggests the live-action Pokemon series now in early development at Netflix is being helmed by Joe Henderson, who will write and executive produce the series. Henderson is currently the co-showrunner and executive producer on the Netflix series Lucifer.
As the rumor suggests, the project is in its early pre-production phases, and as such details on the plot and other specifics aren’t known yet. Considering the success of the live-action Detective Pikachu movie, it makes sense a live-action series would come at some point.
The new live-action series is likely spurred by the success of the animated Netflix Castlevania series (final season premiered May 13th, spin-off inspired by Rondo of Blood in production) and the live-action The Witcher series (with a third season coming soon). Netflix also have multiple other game adaptions in the works.
These include Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness, League of Legends: Arcane, Sonic Prime, an animated Tomb Raider series, a live-action Assassin’s Creed series, a live-action Resident Evil series, a Cuphead animated series, a feature length Beyond Good and Evil film, and a Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell anime.
