UNIVRS Inc. have announced the release date for Little Witch Academia: VR Broom Racing, after it was initially delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As stated in the press release, players control a new student at the Luna Nova Witchcraft Academy. Learn to soar on flying broomsticks alongside characters from the anime, while the game’s motion sickness reduction technology helps you enjoy the game to its fullest.
Featuring an original story told across ten tracks, players race and purifying ghosts alongside fellow students. There is also online multiplayer.
The game directed by Junichi Yamamoto “whose past positions include opening and ending movie director on The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening and storyboard artist of Batman Ninja.” It will also “feature voice acting in English and Japanese from the talents who star in the anime.”
It was also funded on Kickstarter and Japanese crowdfunding website Campfire. It raised $165,000 in total between the two campaigns. Its release was originally slated for June 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic caused plans to change.

Little Witch Academia began in 2013 as an Anime Mirai project, released a movie through crowdfunding, and was adapted as a TV series in 2017.
