Lilith have apologized for using a fan translation for Taimanin Yukikaze 1: Trial, and are working to implement a new translated script in its stead.
On July 27th, the main translator fan English translation group YukikazeACute claimed to r/VisualNovels that developer Lilith had used their translation for the western release of Taimanin Yukikaze 1: Trial.
Taimanin are a series of hentai visual novels, where super-powered ninjas attempt to fight off demons and their allies from disrupting the peace of the human world. The series is infamous for its extreme pornographic content. Despite this, the series branched out into a non-pornographic smart-phone action game Action Taimanin.
The Taimanin Asagi series was set to become available on Steam in August 2019, with the first episode being free. A few weeks later the game was removed from Steam, due to accusations that the game’s characters were underage. Some believed this was caused by some characters wearing a school uniform.
The game would later return as Taimanin Asagi 1: Trial, devoid of any sexual content and- as its name implies- acting as a trial with only the first few scenes shown. Taimanin Yukikaze 1: Trial continued this trend.
“RedXVII” (YukikazeACute’s main translator) felt that his worked had been used, and shared his findings in r/VisualNovels. They note that the “official” English translation shared several typos, and “awkward sentences” they used due to it being English not being their first language.
“I’ve been reaching out to Lilith for the last two week,” RedXVII stated, “but after telling me that ‘No, this isn’t your translation’ they completely stopped answering my mails. For a company that was so often speaking against piracy, that’s really vile.”
“All I wanted when making this translation was to show to more people how cute Yukikaze is. Now, I’d have loved to see this game release officially with a good translation. But I just can’t endorse them stealing someone’s translation and pretend it’s their own.”
Later RedXVII revealed that they would be happy if their own translation was used, as long as it was cited. They also did not rule out “shady third party translators” using their work, and deceiving Lilith. Nonetheless, the game’s Steam page has many negative reviews, bringing the accusations to light. Now, RedXVII has stated in a new post that Lilith have now stated that it was RedXVII’s translation, and are now working to remove it.
“We deeply apologize for the delay in our reply.
After an in-depth investigation of the English translation of “Taimanin Yukikaze” on Steam, we have come to the conclusion that there is no doubt it uses your translation.
We’d like to use this occasion to deeply apologize, and we are truly thankful to all our fans around the world.
We will therefore proceed to remove your translation and fix the translated script. However please understand that this will take some time.
We will continue working hard to create works that can meet our fans expectations.
From all of the Lilith development staff.”

RedXVII states that he is happy with the result. “As long as they recognize and correct it, I have nothing else to complain for! Hopefully a better translation for the cute tanned ninja should be coming soon enough.”
