Level-5 has revealed a new Youkai Watch game for the Nintendo 3DS. Titled simply Youkai Watch 2, the game will put you into the sneakers of a young ghost-capturing kid, and it’s already set for a release on July 10th in Japan. The news comes via the latest issues of CoroCoro magazine.

There will be two editions of Youkai Watch 2, the Founder edition and the Head edition, both including a unique, but rare medal for players to be able to obtain. The game is also going to finally reveal the origins behind the youkai watch itself, the mysterious accessory the protagonist Keita possesses in order to see and deal with ghosts. Both he and his group of friends are transported back into Japan’s 20th century Showa era, where they meet another ghost taming kid named Keizo.

The game also features some new events for Keita to experience, most notably bicycle races and the ability to climb trees. If you’ve played the original, you’ll be able to encounter unique ghosts that are only reachable if you’ve played the first game. While there’s no confirmation of a Western release, Level-5 did recently gauge fans’ interest in a Western release via Twitter.
