Lego: Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Removed From Steam

We have learned that Lego: The Lord of the Rings and Lego: The Hobbit have both been removed from Steam.

This was first noticed by a user on Reddit. While the pages do still exist, there is no option to purchase through the store. This is made all the more curious by the fact both games were available for free the month prior via the Humble store.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson did issue a statement to PC Gamer, indicating there are no plans to bring the games back.

“Lego: The Lord of the Rings and Lego: The Hobbit will no longer be available for sale in digital stores. The games will remain in players’ libraries if they already own them.”

We can only speculate this may have something to do with movie licensing running out, as that can be a separate affair from licensing of an IP to tell a new story as with other The Lord of the Rings games.
