Firaxis Games has announced the leader for Rome in Civilization VI, alongside confirming the unique abilities of the civilization.
Trajan is confirmed as the leader of Rome. “All Roads Lead to Rome” is the special ability for the Romans, which provides a free trading post in every city you settle. Coming from this, new cities within trade-route range of your capital will also start with a road leading to them.
Rome’s unique unit is naturally the Legion, which is more expensive than the swordsman. However, it’s stronger in comparison and can function as a military engineer – but you can only build a limited number of times.
Baths are Rome’s replacement for the aqueduct, providing more housing and amenities than the aqueduct. Finally, Trajan’s Column is his special ability. All cities start with one free building in their city center – this will typically be a free monument.
Under Trajan’s rule, Rome achieved its greatest territorial expansion – covering everything from ancient Britain to the Persian gulf. Remembered as the second of the Five Good Emperors, he also reshaped Roman cities, life, and oversaw a time of peace and prosperity for the Mediterranean region.
Civilization VI is launching on October 21st, for PC.
