We’ve learned that Nintendo is really thinking of any and all possibilities for The Legend of Zelda series moving forward, considering their bold new gameplay and design choices with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The latest tease? A possible spinoff featuring Princess Zelda’s alter-ego, Sheik.
The news comes from an interview with Legend of Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto and GameRant, where Miyamoto said the development team working on Breath of the Wild has been toying with the idea of a spinoff featuring Sheik.
“Within the development team, too, there have been talks about how it might be cool to have a game that features Sheik as a protagonist. It’s having maybe a Zelda spin-off with Sheik as a protagonist, for example, I don’t think that’s an impossibility.”
Reportedly, there was discussion on making Zelda the protagonist in Breath of the Wild, however they stuck to keeping Link the protagonist.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is launching sometime next year for both the Wii U and the Nintendo NX.
