We’ve learned (via NeoGAF) of a hot new rumor surrounding the upcoming new The Legend of Zelda game, for Wii U.

Despite us normally refusing to report on these sorts of rumors from “industry insiders” that refuse to vet their sources to us, Emily Rogers (who has been proven true with previous rumors, like the new Paper Mario game) is claiming a few interesting things for the upcoming game.

Rogers claims the game will be a dual launch across both the Wii U and the new codenamed NX console. “I confirmed it with a ton of people,” said Rogers. “You can choose which one to get. Or get both.”

Here’s the more interesting bit of the rumor: she’s heard from multiple sources that you’ll be able to choose between a male or female character in the game. It’s worth mentioning she doesn’t clarify that this is “Link,” which could mean this is a new character entirely.

The final bit of the rumor is that voice acting is confirmed for most of the characters, “except Link.”

How do you folks think Nintendo could incorporate both genders into the typical story tropes seen in the Zelda franchise? Sound off in the comments below!
