Launch Trailer for Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity

Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity, the Touhou dungeon-crawling adventure game starring Remilia Scarlet, has released today on the PlayStation Store for PS4.

To celebrate, XSEED has posted a new trailer, showing off what the gameplay looks like, as the player explores the legendary world of Gensoukyou.

While the game was originally released in Japan on PC, the western release is a PS4 exclusive. And is available now.

About

I'm a pretty chill guy. Huge video game fan, but a bigger anime fan. I also love to write - obviously.

I don’t like Remilia. I’ll have to pass.

Now, if they had a game for Konpaku Youmu, on the other hand…

Why only a PS4 release? Stupid! Should be on PC as well!

And I’ll repeat: interesting as it looks, I would really like for Zun to consider moving his games to Steam. Then, I’ll feel comfortable buying Touhou-related products with originals in hand.

    I’d prefer MGR/Jetstream Sam’s gameplay.

Once it releases in Europe I’ll give it a try. Bullet Ballet had some interesting ideas, but was very bare bones.

Well good for PS4 players I guess. Since they didn’t release it for Vita or PS3 I guess I gotta go find the Japanese version now.

Wait, a fan made game made it to the PS4? that’s very interesting! Wish more developers would work with fans that way. Never got into Touhou, but this looks interesting. Shame I’ll have to skip it since they didn’t bring the PC version to the West.

Or get a PS4 if it has games you want. Why not do that?

I’m not going to spend several hundred dollars on something that has a handful of games I’m interested in. Plus this one already has a PC port. Hopefully we’ll see it or a fan translation in the future.

I can’t help but think that XSEED should get Qloc or Nixxes Software involved. Due to the bullet hells and Tasofro fighting games, I’m pretty sure most of the touhou fandom is primarily situated on PC instead of consoles. :x

You play as Youmu in their 2011 game Youyou Kengeki Musou. It’s an Ys clone just like this one, though with a little less polish. There is a fan translation patch. You’re welcome!

Also, you can play through all of Scarlet Curiosity as Sakuya if you want to. No Remilia required.

We’ve had a fan translation for the PC version for years. Look here: https://ocv.me/kks/

Hm, I’ll look into that game. Your assuming my gratitude was justified.

That aside, I don’t really care for Sakuya, either. lol
