The Latest Sword Art Online Game has Twitter Users Educating an NPC

sword-art-online-hollow-realization-11-02-16-1

In preparation of the release for Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization, Bandai Namco has opened a website dedicated entirely to one of the new NPCs introduced in the game, the not-so-cleverly named Premiere (shown above).

This new website, supported only on smartphones, will ask you to authorize your Twitter account so that Premiere can actually learn from your memes and shitposting. Yes, the publisher wants her to learn from Twitter users-I’m sure you can see where this is going.

Following her absorption of your Twitter feed and learning from it, she’ll begin speaking to you (Editor’s Note: she only speaks in Japanese). Some of the developments from what can only be described as a twisted scientific experiment will be publicly broadcast on her Twitter account, @PremiereSAO.

All of the interactions Premiere has had will develop her personality over time, with her creator saying it’s entirely up to Twitter as to whether she grows up to be a good or bad girl. What could possibly go wrong?

You’ll be able to see the full story for Premiere when Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization launches worldwide on November 8th.

So Tay ran off to Japan to be part of a videogame, then?

I wonder if they’ll reboot her as a feminist just like they did with Tay. Of course this is a Japanese one, so I hope they just stick with it.

I just hope our version isn’t censored. Not holding my breath though because it probably is.

Yeah, but the Japanese version was rated B (12 & up) by the Cero. The english version is rated T with partial nudity and even lists that scene for the reason there is partial nudity. Yeah it will most likely still be censored sadly, but for our version there is really no reason to aside from laziness on the side of the devs.

I hope someone archives and translates her posts by the time this is over. I need to see what kind of crazy shit she ends up posting before they inevitably take down the account and/or modify her.

I really hope they let the experiment run a long course, see if it gets to any of the undercurrents below the shitposting. standard media examinations always fail on the internet it would be nice to see someone let a thing be around for a while instead of frantically putt it away form the fire before it’s cooked.

This will not end well. We already have /pol/, /v/ and /monster/ on the job educating her, AND I think halfchan is involved as well.
I just hope no one at bamco can read English. Not that the Japanese will likely care too much either way.

I can’t help but wonder how much of a moral shitstorm there’ll be when someone lets loose a real™ AI. What are they going to do then if it says things they don’t approve of then? I’m not looking forward to the liberal double think of ‘it has rights and you best respect them’ and ‘it can only think in a politically correct manner that we dictate.’

Sadly, it seems they wiped her English vocabulary and programmed her not to respond to/learn from English speakers anymore. (She just responds with phrases such as “the words are restricted by the program” and “there is no fun”.)

Nevertheless, the AI was quite impressive; it wasn’t actually intended to communicate to anyone but Japanese users, but before they shut it down she had learned to speak quite understandable and grammatical English. (And Spanish, apparently.)

That AI would likely be programmed to take ethics classes and prioritize textbooks to Twitter posts. The reason why AIs are so vulnerable to Twitter shitposting is because they never experience anything else, and ultimately only mimic, rather than process logic.

Or it won’t speak English. Because it seems like America exists solely to be assholes online.
