It seems like Namco Bandai is simply not prepared to show more Tekken 7 information, as their San Diego Comic Con panel has come out with only a trickle of news. This is following the game’s premature leak before EVO 2014, an event where the game was not meant to be revealed.
Lars Alexandersson, the adoptive brother of Lee Chaolan and half uncle of Jin Kazama, is the first character to be confirmed for the roster of Tekken 7. Lars is known for being the primary character in the story of Tekken 6, and the warrior who led the coup d’etat to overthrow the Mishima Zaibatsu.
Namco also confirmed that Tekken 7 will answer questions like why Heihachi had to murder his wife, and why he threw Kazuya into a pit. We’ll also learn why he had to kill Jin, and who Devil Jin is as well.
Series producer Katsuhiro Harada also confirmed that Tekken 7 will return to one on one battles like previous games in the series – relieving the anxiety that many fans have been facing since Tekken Tag Tournament 2. No gameplay was shown, as they’re still working on gameplay mechanics.
Tekken 7 is currently in development, and has no confirmed platforms – although “current generation consoles” were mentioned in the original leak.
We’ll keep you guys posted.
