La-Mulana EX Lands in Japan in December, Adventures Into the West in January

La-Mulana EX, the updated and reinvigorated PS Vita version of the original La-Mulana, will be released in Japan on December 17th, and in the West some time during January.

A side-scrolling platformer, La-Mulana has a bit of a cult status in both Japan and abroad due to its challenging gameplay.

The port, handled by Pygmy Studio, includes new content in the form of updated graphics, revised bosses and puzzles, an illustrated bestiary and character guide, online leaderboards, trophies, and more.

Maybe the infamous bug in the original has also been fixed, which randomly crashes the game during the final boss battle. (Think of the speedrunners!)

Niche Gamer has interviewed La-Mulana‘s creator, Takumi Naramura, and you can read that over here. He and his developers at Nigoro are currently developing the official sequel, La-Mulana 2, which was successfully kickstarted earlier this year.
