Konami renewed Suikoden trademark ahead of Tokyo Game Show 2022

Suikoden

While Konami teased their Tokyo Game Show 2022 lineup, which includes a game from a “beloved” series, fans are speculating it’s a new Suikoden release.

The speculation comes from a newly re-circulated trademark for the Suikoden series, filed back in June, but curiously a decade after the last game – Suikoden: Woven Web of the Centuries.

Reasoning behind this new speculation is that Japanese voice actor Yuji Kaji will be hosting Konami’s reveal of the game. Fans naturally went nuts realizing Kaji was involved with several of the Suikoden games as his main roles for Konami over the years.

Kaji played Suikoden II main character Jowy Atreides in its drama CD (the game itself had no voice acting), as well as the protagonist in the Nintendo DS spinoff Suikoden Tierkreis, and finally the character Zefon in the final game on the PSP.

“As a representative of the fans from a series’ beloved around the world, voice actor Yuki Kaji will appear as a guest for a stage announcement of a new Konami title,” the publisher’s schedule reads.

That certainly sounds like Kaji is there representing a Konami series he’s known for, doesn’t it? A rumor claims the reveal is a “smaller” project (via VGC) compared to the other rumored revivals Konami reportedly has for Castlevania, Silent Hill, and Metal Gear Solid.

A 20th anniversary re-release or remaster for the legendary original games wouldn’t be due for a few years now but it’s possible Konami is looking to capitalize on series creator Yoshitaka Murayama’s spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which is set to release in 2023.
