We’ve seen even more evidence that publisher Konami is looking to sever ties with the visionary developer Hideo Kojima, following startling rumors of the creator and his team butting heads with the company’s upper management.
On the official Zone of the Enders HD Collection page on Konami’s website, Hideo Kojima’s name was removed from the game’s synopsis. Originally, the synopsis had mentioned the collection “marks the return of two fan favorite PS2 games from Hideo Kojima”, and that “the games feature the engrossing storytelling of Hideo Kojima paired with thrilling robot fights in a futuristic interplanetary setting”.
These were changed to omit Kojima’s name, saying that the release “marks the return of two fan favourite PS2 games”, and that “the games feature the engrossing storytelling, paired with thrilling robot fights in a futuristic interplanetary setting”. However, this has since been changed back to the original wording, adding Kojima’s name back in – but not before fans had taken notice of the saddening change.
Konami has also removed Kojima’s name and his studio, Kojima Productions from the various websites the company owns, specifically their websites and branding, where Kojima’s name was removed from the artwork of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection. Silent Hills is the latest in their upcoming games to have Kojima Productions removed from it.
