Konami wants to make “more Suikoden games in the future”

Suikoden

Not long after Konami announced Suikoden and Suikoden II are getting an HD remaster, we’ve learned the company is already considering future titles in the series.

A new interview with veteran company developers Yasuo Daikai and Takahiro Sakiyama (Suikoden V’s director) confirmed they’re not going to wait another decade before making another try on the beloved RPG series.

“I can’t say anything specific right now but we didn’t really want to have an end with just the remaster,” Daikai said to IGN. “So yes, I would really like to keep making more Suikoden games in the future. So we hope all of our fans will root for us and support us, and we hope that we can deliver on those promises and you guys can enjoy them.”

When asked if the success of series creator Yoshitaka Murayama’s spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which got funded nearly instantly on Kickstarter – the developers were coy to reveal what got the remasters finally greenlit.

“When you think of Konami’s RPGs, you think of Suikoden,” Daikai says. “It has a lot of fans and it’s a really good product, so from here on out we want to make sure that lots of people are able to interact with the series that we’ve made.”

The remaster for the first two games is launching sometime in 2023 for Windows PC (via Steam), Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4.
