Konami: High-End Console Games Are “Most Important,” Plans to Increase Portfolio With “Globally Known IPs”

We’ve learned Konami is eyeing up the traditional home console market more these days, and is readying up some big new games that utilize their existing catalog.

The news comes via Konami Europe president Masami Saso, who touched on the company’s current outlook for both the home console industry, as well as their next big titles.

“Even with new platforms coming out, we believe high-end console games are the most important,” Saso said in an interview with Gamesindustry.biz.

He added, “We challenge for innovative ideas and technology within our console games and apply them to other devices, so we will continue to put effort into our console games.”

Lastly, Saso had a pretty blatant tease for the next big games to come from their company:

“We also plan to increase our portfolio. In addition to the multi-device titles for PES and Yu-Gi-Oh, we plan to work on projects with other globally known IPs in the near future.”

What “globally known IPs” would you like to see return from Konami? Sound off in the comments below!
