Author’s Note: The title previously named Weekly Shonen Jump as the source for the information when in fact it was Weekly Shonen Sunday.
The latest issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday includes a cover spread featuring an announcement for an upcoming anime adaptation of Komi Can’t Communicate.
The cover, which has been posted online by SugoiLITE (a Twitter account which posts leaks and rumors about anime and manga series) features the titular Komi-san holding a notebook which visibly says アニメ (anime).

The series follows the titular Komi, a shy girl who’s popular largely due to her appearance and family status that has trouble talking despite her popularity. Her class contains an oddball assortment of characters, each with their own complexes and archetypes. Every classmate has a schtick of some kind.
The series also follows the male lead Hitohito Tadano whose schtick is being exceptionally ordinary (his name being a pun roughly meaning “Ordinary Guy”). But nonetheless he becomes the main romantic interest of Komi because of how he helps her try and break free of her shy habits.
Last month we covered how a web domain for a possible Komi Can’t Communicate anime series was registered and now it seems we’ve gotten our confirmation that an anime series is in the works.
