Weekly Shonen Sunday‘s 34th issue for 2024 has revealed that the Tomohiro Oda’s Komi Can’t Communicate is moving into its conclusion.
According to publisher Shogakukan, the final arc will start on July 24, pending with a title name. The story will involve a training camp.
Komi Can’t Communicate follows the titular Komi, a shy girl who’s popular largely due to her appearance and family status but has trouble talking despite her popularity. Her class contains an oddball assortment of characters, each with their own complexes and archetypes. Every classmate has a schtick of some kind.
The series also follows the male lead Hitohito Tadano whose schtick is being exceptionally ordinary (his name being a pun roughly meaning “Ordinary Guy”). But nonetheless he becomes the main romantic interest of Komi because of how he helps her try and break free of her shy habits.
Volume 34 was just released on July 16, along with a new cover. The chapter involves Komi preparing for the school festival, forever anxious at the responsibility of handling the event.
The manga debuted in May 2016 in Shonen Sunday, and later got an anime in 2021, spanning two seasons.
