China’s legendary Three Kingdoms era has inspired countless portrayals in fiction – one of the most popular in gaming has been Koei Tecmo’s long-running Dynasty Warriors series. Now, things have come full circle with the game series as its receiving a film adaptation (via Inside Games).

The new movie will be developed by the Hong Kong-based studio China 3D, and it will be directed by Roy Hin Yeung Chow (Nightfall, Rise of the Legend) and written by Christine To, who is also penning the screenplay for the movie.

Preparations are beginning sometime this year, with shooting kicking off in 2017. Finally, the movie will release in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau sometime in 2018. A Japanese release date wasn’t confirmed at this time.
