Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake delayed indefinitely, says rumor

Knights of the Old Republic

A new rumor claims the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been delayed indefinitely by Aspyr Media.

The rumor (via Bloomberg) claims its developer has gone through a shakeup recently with the firing of the game’s art director, Jason Minor, as well as its design director, Brad Prince, being fired seemingly out of nowhere. The game had a finalized demo of the game that was shown to Lucasfilm and Sony, but it’s unclear if there was any decision based on the contents.

The game project has been essentially put on pause as there was a change in the release window being pushed to 2025 due to development time, stating that the 2025 release would be a “more realistic target.”

Back in September 2021, Aspyr Media announced the Knights of the Old Republic remake which is the first modern Star Wars console game released outside of the Electronic Arts umbrella. The contract for EA’s deal with Star Wars expires in 2023.

There’s nothing further that has been reported on the situation with the Knights of the Old Republic remake other than Aspyr Media employees being tasked with seeking new projects to work on and moving the remake to their parent company, Saber Interactive.
