Kingdom Come: Deliverance Announced

Ever wanted to play a medieval themed RPG without fantastical annoyances such as magic spells and gruesome trolls? Kingdom Come may be just the game you’re looking for then, since the driving force behind its creation was to craft an RPG that does away with the Tolkien-esque style worlds most games dwell in.

Formerly known as “Warhorse”, this unique open world RPG is powered by Crytek’s Cryengine and focuses on melee combat and siege warfare. Further piquing my own interest, it is said to be based in the tumultuous last days of the Holy Roman Empire, a period sadly under-explored by roleplaying games.

This seems like a good time to release such a game, considering the soon-to-be-finished indie CRPG “Age of Decadence” is very similar in theme and concept. Not to mention a Mount & Blade sequel is due out soon as well.

Regardless, the idea of playing an open world non-linear game with real historical underpinnings sounds intriguing. For fans of the genre, it seems to be a game worth watching.
