Keiichi Okabe is Composing Taro Yoko's New Game

We’ve learned Keiichi Okabe is composing Taro Yoko’s mysterious new game, news confirmed in a NieR series livestream today.

Keiichi Okabe is composing Taro Yoko’s new game alongside Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito and Taro Yoko himself, news confirmed by Saito in a new NieR series livestream (via Games Jouhou).

Okabe is not only the composer but also the music director and arranger, as he will be joined by other composers from Monaca, his music production studio that makes new music for various media. Okabe has worked with Yoko on a number of titles since the Drakengard series, and is an instrumental part of Yoko’s work and the overall experience.

The recently announced, digital-only game is being directed by Yoko and produced by Saito, and will be an indie-like download-only game but a physical version might be released too.

While not much is known about the game yet, Yoko is bewildered by the game saying “It’s a game that I can’t explain. It’s a bit of a strange game, I’ve created something mysterious that I have no idea how to sell.”

He added, “It’s a game that’s somewhat off. I like it. I want people to play it, but I have no idea how to get them to play it.” Saito said the game is “nostalgic but with a new feel” and that other Square Enix staff complimented the game and said “it looks like it’s going to sell really well!”

Further details will be revealed soon – possibly within the next few days, and Yoko noted he’ll update the game once a month.

In related news also confirmed during the NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… first official livestream, we’ve learned that includes cut content not included in the original game – you can read more about that here.
