Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has teased that fighting game Tekken 7 has sold over 7 million units.
While there has been no official word from Bandai Namco Entertainment, Harada hinted the game’s total sales when speaking with a fan on Twitter.
While discussing the V410 Character update list for the game, “Vallala Caballa” tweeted in reply “Appreciate Tekken Team’s effort in explaining the balance and changes. Keep up the good work, i will support every season of yours, although i know i am only one in 6 million of your players.”
The 6 million refers to the game’s official total sales as of late September 2020. Harada had confirmed this on Twitter, along with special artwork and hashtags for the game. This time however, Harada simply replied to Caballa “Now, one of 7 million ;)”
The understated nature of the statement belies Harada’s credibility as the series’ producer. However, it may be that this is a sales estimate, before Harada and Bandai Namco Entertainment have verified the figures and can make a formal announcement. We have reached out to Bandai Namco Entertainment for comment.
In earlier news, Bandai Namco Entertainment have revealed the next Tekken 7 DLC character; the Polish Lidia Sobieska. In addition, Harada has started an online talk show with developers, set within a bar he has opened.
