Soon after Oculus Rift was bought out by Facebook, a public outcry seemed to spew forth all over the internet. One extremely vocal and noteworthy person who joined in was Markus ‘Notch’ Persson.
The Minecraft creator publicly said that Oculus Rift development for Minecraft was put to a halt in protest of the buyout, and that fans should not be expecting it to come. Now, he’s come around and said that he’s no longer holding a grudge against Oculus Rift for selling out:
“And about now I’m officially over being upset about Facebook buying Oculus. I’m upset about there being a hole in my favorite sock instead.”
Following this, legendary developer and visionary creator John Carmack, who is now the Chief Technical Officer within Oculus Rift, simply offered to port the game himself:
“Say the word, ship the source, and i’ll make sure It runs well on you-know-what…”
So there you have it – there’s pretty much no excuse for Minecraft to be running on the Oculus Rift in the future … unless Notch still protests!
