Jiro Ishii announces new Shibuya live-action adventure game

Jiro Ishii

Game creator and 428: Shibuya Scramble executive producer Jiro Ishii has announced a new “Shibuya Live-Action Adventure Game.”

While details are scant, the new game will naturally be set in Shibuya and will have Ishii as general director and Yukinori Kitajima as screenwriter. A crowdfunding campaign via Ubgoe will launch on May 28th.

The cast will include actors Masakazu Arai who played Keima Amemiya in the 1998 game Machi, as well as Fumio Kitagami who played Minoru Minorikawa in the game 428: Shibuya Scramble.

A message from Ishii was posted to the crowdfunding page for the new Shibuya live-action game noting for years he hoped a game would come to surpass 428: Shibuya Scramble, though a game like that never came. After pursuing a follow-up project led to negotiations failing at various companies, Ishii and his former collaborators decided to produce a new successor on their own, via crowdfunding.
