Jeffrey Epstein was banned from Xbox Live for “harassment, threats, and abuse” of other players

Jeffrey Epstein

Xbox Live was infamous for how popular it was and how often people got harassed by strangers online. One such harasser was apparently Jeffrey Epstein, the notorious human trafficker and pedophile.

New documents posted by the Department of Justice have uncovered an astonishing level of insight into Epstein’s clients, correspondences, and more. His infamous evil spread into his online gaming, so much so Microsoft banned him in 2013 over his repeatedly psychotic behavior, online.

The email notice from Xbox Live support to Epstein noted he was permanently banned for “harassment, threats, and/or abuse of other players” that was determined to be “severe, repeated, and/or excessive.” Sounds like the same Epstein that literally trafficked children and women.

“Your conduct was brought to the attention of the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement Team through either complaints filed by other Xbox Live users or in the course of our operation of the service,” the notice reads. “The Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement Team has reviewed the complaints and other evidence regarding this conduct and determined it violates the Xbox Live Terms of Use and/or Code of Conduct. Because your conduct or conduct history is in violation, the Xbox Live Policy & Enforcement Team has enacted this suspension against your account.”

Here’s the full list of bad behavior Xbox Live support found Epstein was responsible for:

  • Threats of death, harm, property damage, or any other act of violence or vandalism
  • Verbal abuse or profanity directed at other players
  • Griefing
  • Extortion or manipulation
  • Libel, defamation, or slander
  • Display or transmission of personally-identifiable information such as name, address, phone number, or IP address
  • Stalking

You could argue that back in the heyday of Xbox Live, it was inevitable for you to get at least one of these things hurled at you from a complete stranger, not just Epstein. All jokes aside, the fact that Epstein actually got permanently banned means his online gaming behavior was probably egregiously bad.

Back in 2021, Microsoft confusingly dropped the popular Xbox Live name for Xbox Network and more recently shut down Xbox Live Marketplace, the very store platform Epstein and others would have used when playing online over a decade ago.
