Jeff Minter’s Latest Game, Polybius, Assaults Your Face in PlayStation VR

Jeff Minter, founder of indie studio Llamasoft, has announced his latest game.

Dubbed simply Polybius, the new title is exclusive to PlayStation VR and is described as “ludic psychedelia.” Minter says the name is inspired by an arcade game from urban legends. Featured above, you can view the debut gameplay for the game.

Over on the PlayStation Blog, Minter explains the origins of the game. He originally played an arcade game in a warehouse full of various cabinets, with his only memory of it being feelings of “deep-seated floating anxiety and temporary amnesia.” Minter then wanted to recreate it, only now focusing on the experience’s relaxing and psychedelic affect.

A release date wasn’t announced, however Minter said that work on the game is “nearly done.” If you’re at the Play Expo in Manchester this weekend, the game will be playable.
