Jason Voorhees is Confirmed for Mortal Kombat X

Of course. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced this Friday, March 13th, that Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th horror movies will be a playable character in Mortal Kombat X. You can watch the reveal trailer above.

Jason Voorhees the killer had his cinema debut in Friday the 13th Part 2, has had another ten movies since, and has even been in his own video game, Friday the 13th, in 1989 on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

He will now be available in X as part of the Kombat Pack DLC, which “grants early access to four playable characters from Klassic Kombatants to Iconic Guest Characters”. This DLC comes with the MKX Kollector’s Edition by Coarse, the Limited Edition, and the Premium Edition versions, and can also be purchased separately for $29.99.

His fellow horror alumni, Freddy Krueger, with whom he shared the Freddy vs. Jason movie, was previously available as an extra in the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot.

The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X have been delayed until this summer, but the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One versions are still on track for April 14th.

Oh, and happy Friday the 13th, everyone!

Neat. I wish they’d put Freddy and Jason in the same game, though.

While this news definitely increases the chance I’ll get this game, I’m still going to wait for whatever “Komplete Edition” comes out.

Wasn’t expecting this, though it makes sense in hindsight with Freddy in the last game.

$30? For one character? Are they fucking insane?

I guess they couldn’t get Arnold’s likeness so they had to settle for Colonel Dillon?

Yawn. Like, who in the world was asking for this? Predator rumours were at least interesting.

The “purchased separately” bit had me thinking one. $7.50 per character, effectively, is still kind of crazy.

Let’s wait for the Komplete Edition with every character I guess.

Reminds me of that indie game where you controlled a monster akin to Jason, that got shut down by the film studio that owns it now. Wonder if they are hoping this will keep Jason clear in peoples mind for an upcoming project?

Interesting idea, but I was already turned off by the excessive day 1 DLC. “Mortal Combat & Friends” isn’t going to win me over either.
