Of course. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced this Friday, March 13th, that Jason Voorhees of the Friday the 13th horror movies will be a playable character in Mortal Kombat X. You can watch the reveal trailer above.
Jason Voorhees the killer had his cinema debut in Friday the 13th Part 2, has had another ten movies since, and has even been in his own video game, Friday the 13th, in 1989 on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
He will now be available in X as part of the Kombat Pack DLC, which “grants early access to four playable characters from Klassic Kombatants to Iconic Guest Characters”. This DLC comes with the MKX Kollector’s Edition by Coarse, the Limited Edition, and the Premium Edition versions, and can also be purchased separately for $29.99.
His fellow horror alumni, Freddy Krueger, with whom he shared the Freddy vs. Jason movie, was previously available as an extra in the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot.
The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X have been delayed until this summer, but the PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One versions are still on track for April 14th.
