Japanese police officer caught playing Nintendo on duty

A policeman in Nara, Japan was caught playing Nintendo Switch when he was supposed to be working.

An officer at the Tenri Police Station in Nara, Japan was caught playing Nintendo Switch during an unannounced inspection of his work station. Officers found the Switch still plugged into the TV of the police box where he worked when they arrived.

The officer in question eventually admitted to playing for approximately 17 hours on 10 separate occasions. The officer apologized for his actions, and according to The Japan News he said: “I played games when there were few incidents”.

The police department intends to recover the time lost from the man’s wages, it’s unknown if there were any further consequences.
