Gone are the days of dragging an object away from the NPCs to steal it, because now there’s a whole extra step.
The usual stealing tactics in Bethesda’s games include obscuring an NPC’s vision, mostly by placing a bucket in their head, or by taking the object you want to steal to another room.
Starfield does things differently, by considering it theft when a player moves an object they don’t own. Japanese players figured out that this doesn’t trigger if you use an object you own to move another object, though.
