A Japanese firefighter has been suspended from his position after reportedly appearing in Adult Videos (AV).

According to NHK, the firefighter from Koshigaya city in Saitama prefecture participated in at least five photo shoots in Osaka and other areas and was paid 250,000 Japanese Yen (JPY) for his work, that’s approximately $1,615 USD.

As a result, the officer has been suspended for six months. The fire chief was alerted to the performer’s side-work thanks to an anonymous tip and says the man’s actions has damaged the trust of residents.

Meanwhile, the firefighter/performer said that he was driven to do the work because of economic woes such as a car loan. The Japanese Yen has slowly been losing buying power in the global economy and at the time of writing sits at approximately 1 yen = $0.0065. At the risk of being opportunistic, it’s a great time for westerners to buy Japanese merch like figures and Blu-Rays.
