Japan Introduces Stricter Regulations to Prevent Future Arson Attacks Like Kyoto Animation

In an effort to thwart another tragedy like the Kyoto Animation studio fire, Japanese lawmakers (via Jin115) have introduced new regulations to monitor the sale of large amounts of gasoline.

The national Fire and Disaster Management Agency, a division of Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, are the people looking to introduce said legislation to make it official.

The arsonist is still waiting to be released from medical treatments so as to face punishment for his crimes. The morning of the attack, based on security cam footage, the arsonist filled up two 5 gallon containers full of gas, which prompted the authorities to introduce the new regulations.

The general consensus is hoping that implementing these new regulations will discourage copycat arsonists, due to having to have their ID’s scanned and going on record.
