The Guardian ran a piece about sex mechanics and segments in modern video games, in which they talked about CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
One of the most interesting tidbits in the article was the claim that the game contains a whopping amount of sexual content:
The game, due for release in May, contains 16 hours of sex scene motion capture data (used to animate the 3D mannequins into their various lifelike positions). There may not be any of Houser’s dildo sex in the George RR Martin-esque fantasy plains, but there is a Hugh Hefnerian amount of lovemaking. It comes quickly, too. Within the first 15 seconds the camera droops to linger on a woman’s fulsome posterior, moments after dismounting the protagonist, the white-haired monster hunter, Geralt of Rivia.
Before you start celebrating in the streets, and firing whatever guns you have into the air, this was actually bad information on The Guardian’s part. They interviewed senior game designer Damien Monhier, but Nikolas Kolm, Quest Designer at CD Projekt Red clarified this misconception over on his personal Twitter:
#Witcher3 Seeing a lot of people tweeting about supposed 16 hours of sex-cutscenes in Witcher 3. This is false.
He continued, explaining that it actually took 16 hours to record all the mo-cap material:
#Witcher3 It took 16 hours to record all mo-cap material for the sex parts. This does not translate to 16 hours of sex in game. Thanks!
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is arriving on PC, Playstation 4, and Xbox One on May 19th.
