It seems like we’ve gotten word (via the XSEED forums) of a reveal prematurely—XSEED Games has registered a domain for a new Xanadu game.
While the domain is filed under the name “XANADU NEXT”, the timing of the registration in comparison to Tokyo Xanadu’s reveal only a few weeks ago leads is definitely curious. The domain was filed back on December 11th, but was only recently spotted by fans.
Xanadu Next was actually a game released back in 2005 for both Windows PC and the Nokia N-Gage. Considering how old and obscure that release was, this definitely sounds like something entirely new.
It’s also worth noting that development platforms for Tokyo Xanadu are still unconfirmed, but we do know that it takes place in Tokyo, and is somewhat of a modern action RPG filled with myths and monsters.
(Thanks for the tip, Jack Dandy!)
[Editor’s note: The article originally speculated the game was Falcom’s more recent Tokyo Xanadu, but our fans pointed out this might be reaching a bit too far. We’ve updated the article to make it more appropriate to the domain registration.]
