Quirky RPGs – thanks to the ever-growing Earthbound community and the runaway success of UnderTale – are a hot commodity right now. One such strange little post-modern RPG is Wimbus Studios’ Island Of Eternal Struggle, which has just now earned its own Steam Greenlight page.
What’s interesting to note is, back in the summer of 2014, we here at Nichegamer had the privilege of meeting with Wimbus Studios at the South Jersey geekfest and had a chance to sample the game. Besides being local guys, they were quite sociable folk and were extraordinarily passionate about their game.
Though its “Rave” trailer does a good job of setting the stage for the game’s oddball humor, one need only look at the roster of characters – which includes a nun, a cyborg, and a “guy without a face” – to get an idea of what you’re in for.
Regardless, the game does promise some depth with 24 different jobs and 500 special skills divided up between them. That and the save points in the game are apparently hobos.
You can download a demo of the game on their official website.
