If you love gigantic mechs, strategic gameplay, or you just want something PC-based that brings back the same combination of action and strategy you remember from the Armored Core series, then Thailand-based developer Orbital Speed’s new game Dual Gear is something you may want to look into.
Powered by the new Unreal Engine, Dual Gear combines strategy and third person shooting action into one cohesive package, with its designers hoping to create a very in-depth simulation of mech-based combat. It’s fairly evident they’re doing a good job, especially when one looks at the game’s user interface…which is impressive for a non-AAA studio.
Dual Gear is a turn-based game, but allows for free movement during turns using an action point system, giving it a hybrid action/strategy type of gameplay that – according to the developer and the game’s many videos – is intended to create a very cinematic look to its combat.
If you wish to support them, the developer has just started an indiegogo campaign, as well as a plea for votes on Steam Greenlight. You can also track Orbital Speed’s progress via the game’s official Twitter feed.
Dual Gear will release for Windows, Mac, Xbox One, and PS4 in the first quarter of 2017.
