Reddit user ShaneD53 did some digging, and apparently stumbled upon plans for a new survival mode in Fallout 4 that, if the data is accurate, looks to be even more harsh than what we saw in Fallout: New Vegas’ own hardcore mode.
Later confirmed by Bethesda’s twitter account as being true, this new mode’s features may be Bethesda’s way of giving an olive branch to diehard fans that found the “streamlining” of Fallout 4 to be a bit hard to take.
Some of the more interesting additions to the mode include having the player’s legs cripple if they walk encumbered for too long and unprepared food giving you illnesses. A complete list is available on the aforementioned Reddit thread.
