Vince Zampella – co-founder of both Infinity Ward and Respawn Entertainment, has died in a car accident. He was 55 years old.

The report (via NBC LA) states Zampella died yesterday, December 21st, in a car accident on a scenic road north of Los Angeles, in the San Gabriel Mountains.

Zampella was reportedly driving southbound in a Ferrari, which veered off the road just after exiting a tunnel-hitting a concrete barrier where the passenger was ejected. Zampella, tragically, was trapped in the car, which caught fire and led to his death. The passenger was rushed to the hospital but died later as well.

Details about what actually led to the crash off the winding road were not immediately available, though initial footage showed the red Ferrari slamming into the concrete barrier just after leaving the tunnel.
