With so many people going ga-ga over Shiness and Falcom having such a big success with their own ported JRPGs, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that more JRPGs are making the leap to Steam in an effort to placate the long-suffering PC crowd who used to have to rely solely on emulation or RPGmaker to get their Japanese roleplaying fix. The latest of these new breed of indie PC JRPGs, Divinia Chronicles, has just successfully passed Valve’s Greenlight checklist.
With its developer “Dieblein’s Workshop” having been influenced by genre legends such as Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy, Divinia Chronicles seems to have quite a lot in common with Shiness, in that it takes the classic style gameplay we all grew up with and repackages it with modern visuals. A short blurb from the developer’s blog explains it a bit better, however:
-

With influences ranging from Ocarina of Time to Final Fantasy, this action-oriented title seeks to revive the vintage flavor and vibe of the classics in an original world with a new tale to be told. Explore the island of Pandoria, solve puzzles and fight a variety of creatures as Cyrus, Kira and Dyani work to destroy the relics of Gan-Ti and restore order to the land.
