Though this isn’t a real rom hack, or even possible, Mario Kart aficionado and retro-gaming fan Hat-Loving Gamer has constructed an impressive “What-if” scenario that answers the question “What if Super Mario Kart was an MMO?” At least, that’s what it seems like when you see 101 different karts racing around the same track.

Eagle-eyed gamers will see some new faces as well, with Sonic, Pac-Man, Goku, and Ness appearing in their own karts. On his Facebook, you can find even more sprites, including Minecraft Steve. Though, as an aside, this video makes me feel good since I’m not the only one who prefers playing the game as Toad.

Hat-loving gamer has apparently made quite a bit of these Mario Kart animated shorts, with his youtube channel chock full of similar videos. Though none coming close to the fantasy-world madness of more than 100 people throwing bananas and shells around on an SNES Mario Kart track.
