Rumor: Immortals Fenyx Rising may be getting a Polynesian Sequel

Immortals Fenyx Rising

Ubisoft has been going through restructuring while canceling several of their titles. One may be left to wonder, what does Ubisoft have for 2022 and beyond? A new rumor suggests Immortals Fenyx Rising is getting a sequel.

Along with the Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Skull & Bones, it would appear that Ubisoft’s open-world, Zelda-inspired Immortals Fenyx Rising will be getting a sequel of sorts.

“Ubisoft Quebec’s sequel to Immortals Fenyx Rising is not a proper sequel, it’s more of spin off in the same way. The production name of the game of the game is Oxygen,” Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb teased on their podcast.

In the sequel, you will be able to play as either a male or female character and will explore Hawaiian Polynesian culture. Grubb continued, “It will still have a God narrator. They try to still be visually stylized but it less of a copy of Breath of the Wild.

Grubb went on to say that the game was still in early pre-production and had some concept art. He also believes that the game may come around 2025, which is still a way’s off.

Here’s hoping that Ubisoft can turn things around and get back to using their IPs to craft game worlds and narratives that captivate gamers once again.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is now available for Windows PC (via the Epic Games Store, and UPlay), Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia. In case you missed it – you can find our thorough review on the game here.
