Studio Arms, the animation studio behind Ikki Tousen and Queen’s Blade has reportedly declared bankruptcy.

Tokyo Shoko Research reports (via Anime News Network) that Common Sense; the officially registered name for studio Arms, has declared bankruptcy as of July 22nd. The decision was made in a shareholder meeting on May 31st.

Founded in 1996, the company was initially involved in outsourced work from studio Pierrot, and working on hentai in collaboration with Green Bunny and Pink Pineapple. They also produced adult works under the names Dandelion, Triple X, and Garyu Studio.

The studio’s works include Elfen Lied, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, Valkyrie Drive: Mermaid, Queen’s Blade, Samurai Girls, Ikki Tousen, and more. In addition, they provided in-between animation and production assistance to several other projects.

They also produced more adult works such as A Kite, Mezzo Forte, Words Worth, La Blue Girl, and several adult visual novels. Notably, A Kite and Mezzo Forte both had releases without sex scenes.
