Sega previously confirmed they’re handing over the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series to IDW Comics, as they ended the publishing deal with Archie Comics. Now, they’ve announced the release window for the new series.

The new comic series will launch in April of next year – news confirmed at this year’s New York Comic-Con. IDW also confirmed there will be a new issue of the comic every week for the first month of its release.

Ian Flynn, the original writer for the Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog publication, is returning to write this new series. Tyson Hesse, the guy behind the opening animation of Sonic Mania, isn’t returning for the interior art duties but he did provide the above promo image.

The latest game in the series, Sonic Forces, launches on November 7th in North America and Europe across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. The precursor to Sonic Forces, Sonic Mania, is available now for PC, Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In case you missed it, you can find my review for that game here (I absolutely love and recommend the game!).
