I Hope Always Sometimes Monsters is the Next Big Indie Thing

asm-screen-4

I hope Always Sometimes Monsters becomes the next indie thing – I really do.

The game comes with the disclaimer:  Always Sometimes Monsters has content dealing with racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, mental health, sexual assault, child abuse, animal abuse, drug abuse, and suicide.

You play as an ordinary person living a relatively ordinary life. You are given the freedom to make choices (which apparently include murder) that directly effect the game world and then are asked to deal with the consequences of those choices.

I haven’t played  Always Sometimes  Monsters, but if the game’s trailers are any indication, it will make me feel feelings, and it isn’t afraid if I don’t like them.

This excites me because I’ve grown quite tired of games bending over backward to make me feel like I’m coolest, sexiest, baddest most awesome guy in the whole universe.

It’s also being published by Devolver Digital, a company that is known to have an eye for the interesting and uncomfortable. Anyway, if you’re like me then check it out. It will probably make you feel like shit and that’s fantastic.
